About the Mountain

The ascent to the ski resort at Pla D'adet is located in the Hautes Pyrénées in the Midi Pyrénées region. The climb has been used 10 times in the Tour de France from 1974 to 2014. In 1974 the stage winner to Pla d'Adet was Raymond Poulidor.

Pla d'adet was the summit finish for stage 17 of the 2014 Tour de France. The stage was won by Rafal Majka who attacked the Movistar rider Visconti at 2.4km from finish and stayed away until the finish. Majka was also wearing the King of the Mountains jersey during the this stage and went on to win this classification in Paris.

Majka had the stage at the summit of Pla d'Adet 45 seconds ahead of race leader and eventual winner, Vincenzo Nibali.
