About the Mountain

The Col de Peyresourde is part of the Haute Pyrenees in France. The climb from Bagners de Luchon is around 15km with an average gradient of around 6% and a maximum gradient of around 9%.

The Col de Peyresourde was used on stage 8 of the 2016 Tour de France. Chris Froome attacked at the summit and rode away from the group on the descent towards Bagners du Luchon. Froome descended on the top tube while continuing to peddle. Froome went on to win the stage and gain time on all his rivals. Froome went on to win the Tour de France in 2016.

The Col de Peyresourde has been used many times in the Tour de France. In the 2012 Tour de France the Col de Peyresourde was climbed twice on stage 16 and secondly on stage 17.
