About the Mountain

The Coll de la Gallina is considered to be the hardest climb in Andorra. The climb belongs to the Pyrenees mountain range. It is located in the Parroquian Sant Julià de Lòria, in the southwestern part of Spain


The Coll de la Gallina has featured twice in the Vuelta a España as a summit finish, first in 2012 and again in 2013. In 2012 the stage finish at Coll de la Gallina was won by Movistar's Alejandro Valverde. In 2013, the Italian rider Daniele Ratto of Liquigas took the summit finish and stage win.


The Coll de la Gallina was used again in the 2018 La Vuelta España as a summit finish on stage 20, the stage before the finish in Madrid. The stage was won by Spain's Eric Mas of Quickstep Floors who outsprinted Miguel Angel Lopez for the stage win. Mas finished second overall in the Vuelta a España General Classification competition.
