About the Mountain

The Col du Portet made it's debut in the 2018 Tour de France. It was the highest point of the Tour for this year and the first to cross the line will win not only the stage but the souvenir Henri Degrange prize. (Prize given to the first rider who crosses the highest point of the Tour Parcours.) The Col du Portet was part of the ground breaking 65km Stage 17 mountain stage. The starting grid like start did not have the impact hoped for as the peloton simply rolled out as usual. The Col du Portet summit finish and the stage was won by Nairo Quintana of Movistar.

The Col du Portet is an extension of the Pla d'Adet climb. The climb is located in the Midi Pyrenees. The top most part of the climb is not a exactly sealed roads like the lower slopes so be prepared for some bumpy surfaces and make sure you have spare tubes and puncture repair kit!
