About the Mountain

The Falls Creek climb is located in the beautiful Victoria Alps in Australia. This side of the climb begins in Mt Beauty and ends at the Falls Creek resort village located at the summit of the mountain. At the start of the climb the gradient is only 4%, but dont let this fool you. The climb has a distance of around the 30km mark so pacing is all important. The gradient heads up in parts to around the 10% mark. The road winds its way up to the summit with many hairpin turns as well as twists and turns, for the most part, in beautiful wooded areas that are all around. The climb does involve some downhill sections so use these as recovery sections to prepare for the next ascent section.

As you climb do not forget to take in all the natural beauty of the valley views that are all around. The ski village at the summit has all the amenities that you will need after your ascent so keep focused on that Falls Creek sign at the entrance to the ski resort.

The Falls Creek climb has been used several times in the Jayco Herald Sun Tour race. The 2020 edition of the race used Falls Creek as a summit finish on stage 2 which was won by Australia's Jai Hindley of the Sunweb Team.
